As the finale of the three-year European research project MEN4DEM, ROUW | RAUW becomes a musical rite of passage about letting go of fixed ideas of masculinity and femininity, and about what might emerge when we make space for the unknown.

An actress and fourteen musicians take the audience through a musical ritual. From awareness to acknowledgement. From letting go to cleansing. And finally, into the open space of the yet unknown.

We grew up with images of the man and the woman. With ideas about masculinity and femininity, strength and vulnerability, protecting and caring. Fixed frameworks that have offered direction and a sense of security for generations, but have also confined us.

What do we still carry with us?
What do we want to preserve?
What are we ready to let go of?
And who can we be when we don’t immediately need to find a new answer?

ROUW | RAUW explores what happens when the fixed boundaries between masculine and feminine are loosened — revealing a larger question underneath: what does it mean to be human?

No new definition. No new box to replace the old one. Instead, a ritual for letting go of what no longer fits — and stepping together into the unknown space that emerges in its wake.
